How We Rate Vendors
Every vendor in our directory goes through the same verification process. No paid placements, no editorial bias. See our About page for the broader mission.
What follows is the full methodology — where data comes from, what's required to publish a vendor, and how we communicate data age.
Data Sources
We pull from two sources only. No third-party aggregators, no editorial guesses.
Google Maps Business identity and contact data
- • Business name and Google Place ID (unique canonical identifier)
- • Street address and phone number
- • Operating hours
- • Google rating and review count
Every Google Maps field stores the source URL, a verbatim snippet from that source, and the date it was last verified.
Vendor Website Pricing, fleet, and policies
- • Rental pricing (hourly, daily, weekly where available)
- • Cart types (4-seater, 6-seater, LSV, etc.)
- • Delivery availability and coverage area
- • Age requirements, deposit requirements, cancellation policy
Every website field stores the source URL, a verbatim snippet from the vendor's page, and the verification date.
What Makes a Vendor Publishable
Not every vendor that exists makes it into the directory. A vendor renders on the site only when all of these conditions are met:
Required Fields
- ✓ Business name (from Google Maps)
- ✓ Phone number (from Google Maps)
- ✓ Street address (from Google Maps)
- ✓ Google Place ID (unique canonical identifier — prevents duplicate entries)
- ✓ At least one verified source group (Google Maps or vendor website)
Vendors that don't meet the gate are not listed — period. A vendor that exists but can't be verified to this standard is better absent from our directory than present with incomplete or guessed data.
How Pricing Works
Pricing has three states. We never display a price we haven't sourced from the vendor's own website.
Price is known and sourced from the vendor's website. Rate tiers (hourly, daily, weekly) are displayed when available.
Vendor doesn't list prices publicly. We show "Contact for pricing" — no number is displayed, fabricated, or estimated.
We haven't verified pricing yet for this vendor. The listing shows other verified fields while pricing remains blank.
Freshness Tracking
Every data point in a vendor listing has a last_verified_at timestamp recording when it was confirmed from the source. Freshness badges are computed from the oldest source group date:
Stale vendors remain listed — removing them would leave gaps in coverage. But the badge communicates clearly that you should call ahead to confirm details.
What We Don't Do
- ✗ No fake reviews or fabricated review counts
- ✗ No AI-generated vendor descriptions
- ✗ No scraped or stock images presented as vendor photos
- ✗ No paid rankings — vendors don't pay to appear higher in results
- ✗ No unsourced pricing — if we didn't find it on their website, it's not displayed
Know a Vendor We Should Add?
If you know a golf cart rental business that's not in our directory, tell us about them. We'll verify them using the same process described above.
